Christianity and Fitness – Introduction

For the past few months, I have been thinking about starting a series on my blog entitled, “Christianity and Fitness.” As of today, I will begin what will hopefully become a long and flourishing series unleashing the parallels between Christianity and fitness.

What this series hopes to accomplish can be summed up in Ephesians 4:21-24 (NIV):

21Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

As Christians, we all have a physical body and a spiritual body. The Bible tells us to put off our own sinful desires that come from the flesh. Through experience, however, I have found that exercising my physical body has a lot of similarities to exercising my “spiritual” body. This series will go into several comparisons, analogies, and/or similarities that I have discovered while trying to build up my fitness level.

Feedback Needed

Since this is only the introduction, there is not too much to expect yet. However, I would like your feedback regarding the series idea as a whole. You can expect one entry per month within this series on top of my regular content. I’ll try to post the first entry within the series at the end of this week.

  2. Wow. Nice! Our physical body needs to be cared too, so that we can train our spiritual body better and better. Without healthy body, we can do nothing and doing things like praying gotta be harder to do. God bless you.
