Writer and software engineer Ronald Huereca has been a developer at notable agencies like iThemes and 10up. His varied background has him working with WordPress since 2006, eventually creating his own plugin which, of course, lead to more. He spends quite a bit of his time volunteering with the WordPress project as a core and polyglot contributor. With all of his passions, writing has been the way Ronald expresses himself best. He has written both technical books as well as fiction. Some of his works include Project Mayhem, Mindefusement, and WordPress and Ajax. “You can only delay the inevitable” is his favorite quote. Ronald enjoys reading Stephen King and John Grisham. When he’s not writing, Ronald dreams of building websites filled with cats yawning, disclaimers his strong opinions, sings karaoke, and advocates for empathy surrounding mental health.

Two youths deep in conversation were observed in a fast food restaurant. The slight whispers, the dry laughter, and the raunchy dialogue of the two teenagers filled the silent restaurant. It seemed as if one teenager was in charge of the conversation. He was handing out stories to the other teen as if the stories were candy.

I haven’t seen your face in forever.

You smile and approach me as we indulge in romance.

Laying in bed, watching the clock,

I adjust my pillow, kick off my socks,

Bury my head, turn on the fan,

Get out of bed, gotta go to the can,

Turn on the TV, pop in a movie,

Crank the fan higher, maybe the breeze will soothe me,

Pull up the covers, turn off the TV,

I start thinking of Christ and what he wants me to be,

I might think of a girl, could it be her and me,

But my negative thinking blocks whatever I see.

My Better Half

Days pass , My heart goes out.

As my tears thicken in an endless pout.

Question after question I tend to ask,

When will I remove my dark veiled mask.

Will she like what she sees,

Will she cares what she sees,

Will her heart fill with me,

Or will she just turn and flee.

And if somehow, we ended up together,

Will it be a week long fling, or will it be forever.
