iPhone to the Rescue – Forever Sharp Knives
Filed under Rants
I was in Sam’s club when I stumbled across a guy doing a demo of Forever Sharp Knives.
He was demonstrating how one of the knives could cut easily through fresh bread, a ripe tomato, and even a hammer.
He asked the audience how much we could expect the knives to cost. Some lady chimed in, “38 dollars.”
“Yup.” he replied anxiously.
He continued, “But since you are special Sam’s Club customers, you get a second knife absolutely free!”
At this point, he started naming all of the extras that people would get. Then he dropped a bombshell.
“But wait, since you’ve all listened so patiently to me, I’ve got a special incentive to give you from the manufacturer. A third knife!”
At this point, I whipped out my iPhone and Googled “forever sharp knives”. I saw that this was not indeed a “special incentive” for just “Sam’s Club” customers. This was the same deal that could be purchased online without listening to some jackass speak.
I immediately walked away, shaking my head and smirking.
On another note, I picked up a shredder today and used my iPhone to check out the reviews on Amazon. It turned out Amazon.com was slightly cheaper, but I picked up the shredder anyways. Go iPhone!

Sweet success! I don’t have an iPhone, but I regularly check reviews and prices on my Moto Q while in a store.
You should’ve held up your phone and pointed out to the guy (and the audience) that the “special” was available anywhere.
Maybe I’m too mean.

Great story. It’s interesting to see how iPhones (and other wireless internet devices) are changing society. With wireless internet devices, we shop differently, compare prices, check reviews, and more. I can see how an iphone pays for itself quickly is saved money. Maybe I can use that excuse to buy one.

Great story. Sounds like the iPhone could pay for itself in no time. I wonder how this will change retail marketing; retail stores will have to compete with the internet even more than they do now.

Great idea. What a money-saver. I have delayed my purchase of the iPhone because I have been hearing about Google’s new phone. They both sound great.

We have the forever sharp knike. It carries a life time guarantee. Yesterday the blade broke in half just laying flat on the top shelf of the dish washer. How do we get it replaced? PLEASE answer A.S.A.P. It is our favorite knife.
Thank you

The man at Sam`s club said the forever sharp knife would not break. Mine did just by dropping on the kitchen floor. I have dropped many knives cheap and all and none of them broke. Has anyone else had this problem?

In addition to surfing the web on the iPhone for prices, I just noticed that the iPhone Apps store has a number of shopping apps, which makes comparing online prices easier than ever.

I won’t believe anything that has “forever something” in a name. I wish though my iPhone has “forever battery”. It keeps my phone awake for only 1,5 day now.. :/

You also get a chopping/mincing device with the set – it was the last thing he was going to mention but perhaps you didn’t stay to hear it all? I am a VitaMix sales demonstrator and I use a Forever Sharp knife and would NEVER be without it. People who watch my demonstrations are always trying to find out how to get a knife like mine. I’ve had mine for 7 years. The Forever Sharp Knife salesman was offering a good deal whether you got it at Sam’s Club or online somewhere else – at Sam’s Club, however, you would have gotten that extra chopper thingy…

I love Love LOVE my iphone! Comes in quite handy when wanting to verify info, as you did at Sams. Although the crazy knife guy hasn’t been at my Sams I have used my phone to verify the price on some Italian leather boots.

Oh, come on, the poor sales guy has to make a living
Having sold myself in the past, I’d give the guy some slack.
