It is all too easy to talk to an empty room without considering Who is listening to my prayer. Prayer is a blessing when you consider that Old Testament Jews were had restricted access to God (symbolized by the veil in the tabernacle and temple blocking site of the Holy of Holies). When Christ died on the cross, that veil was torn in two from top to bottom (signifying that God removed the divider) to show that we now had access, through Christ, to God. Another good verse for work is Phil. 2:14-16 "Do all things without grumbling or disputing; so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain."
