Here’s where you’ll find all the nerdy technical stuff concerning my website. If you’re like me (and most people aren’t), you want to know details about how somebody made their website. You’ll find these details here.
Content Management System
I use the awesome and free Wordpress blogging software as my content management system. In my humble opinion, Wordpress is the best blogging system and is highly customizable.
Software Tools
In this section I tell what software I used to create my website.
- Macromedia (now Adobe) Fireworks 2004
An awesome program for website design. Most people use Photoshop, but I find Fireworks to be the best tool for website design and graphics optimization.
- Macromedia (now Adobe) Dreamweaver 2004
Dreamweaver is an absolute must for any serious coder/web designer. I hand coded all my pages within Dreamweaver.
- Jasc (now Corel) Paint Shop Pro 10
Paint Shop Pro is a good tool for stuff that Fireworks can’t do. I use it for taking screenshots, color sampling, and other things.
- Firefox Web Developer Extension
How I did web design before this tool I do not know.
- Notepad
Technologies Used
I used a lot of javascript, php, and xhtml in my design. I have a MySQL database as well.
Compatibility
The current layout has been tested in many browsers. With javascript enabled, the layout works in IE 5+, Opera 7+, Safari 1.3, and Konquerer 3.3.
The layout also works in resolutions less than 1024×768. The maximum width of the layout is 1200 pixels wide. I tried to use accessible markup. If stylesheets are disabled, the site still looks great. I’m prepared for the next Naked Web Day.
